Telehealth

We now offer telehealth appointments for patients who live in North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Minnesota, Georgia, Florida, and Tennessee.  By law, a physician must hold a medical license in the state where a patient lives.  Dr. Henderson currently only holds a medical license in those states, and therefore can only see patients by telehealth in those states.  This includes new patient visits as well..  Alternatively, if you live in another state, as long as you are seen in person at least once per year, we may continue to have phone appointments in between those visits.

Insurances that currently allow us to practice telehealth are: United, Aetna, Cigna, Medi-Share, Federal Blue Cross, and SC State Blue Cross.  All other insurances do not allow us to bill you for telehealth services.  However, you may still be a cash-paying patient. NOTE: During COVID, almost all insurances are covering telehealth.

If you would like to schedule a telehealth appointment:

  1. You must currently be located in NC, SC, GA, FL, MN, TN, or VA.
  2. You must have an established diagnosis of hypothyroidism or Hashimotos disease or want to have a thyroid check-up.
  3. You will need to request your recent thyroid records be sent to us.  We will also order new labs for you to do.  We must receive your lab results and records at least a few days prior to your visit.
  4. Please call our office to schedule.  Telehealth visits are only offered early mornings, evenings, and occasionally on weekends.
  5. If your insurance is accepted, you will be billed just like if you went to the doctor.  If your insurance isn’t accepted, you will need to pay the fee prior to your appointment.
  6. You will be seen either by Dr. Henderson or a provider personally trained by her.
